What is it all about?
Remember as a child, how happy you were if your parents gave you a pound for every A on your report? It made you want to do it again? That's positive reinforcement, so easy to implement.
Dogs don't care about money. They care about praise … and food or toys. Positive reinforcement training uses praise, treats or play to reward your dog for doing something you want it to do. Because the reward makes him/her more likely to repeat the behaviour. Positive reinforcement is one of your most powerful |
lifestyle tools for shaping or changing your dog's behaviour. Rewarding your dog for good behaviour sounds pretty simple, that's because it is!
Who should use reward-based training?
Everyone! Reward-based training is humane, effective and dog-friendly. Reward-based training helps create a range of desirable behaviours in your pet, which builds mutual feelings of trust and confidence. Its cool to be kind, so be kind. For more information contact us. |
When should I start reward-based training?
It's never too early or too late to start training your dog. Puppy classes can start as early as 9 weeks, however you can attend our orientation class before your new pet gets home and be prepared for the arrival. Any age and any breed are welcome. Be prepared, clicker in hand, rewards at the ready. If you're not teaching your pet, it's teaching itself. You can be instrumental in making sure you reward the good stuff and distract from the stuff you'd rather they didn't do. |

I believe all owners & their dogs deserve great trainers.
These days owning a dog is about more than taking them for a walk. Our communities expect our dogs to be well behaved. This doesn't happen by accident. Training is an imperative part of owning a dog, and a really fun way to bond with your dog. Your dogs behaviour can also be linked to what you feed it. Therefore you also have to think about what you feed your dog.
